Took Dan and his family on a fishing charter and had a pile of laughs along with some good fishing for snook, redfish, seatrout, and sharks, down here in Naples after a year off in ’24! The boys had not only grown, these kids have learned to fish!

Started off fast with a load of fun sized snook, and morphed into trout, redfish, jack crevalle and Snapper. The pictures above show Mason with a nice snook he caught using pilchards. Next is Nathan holding another snook, and Dan holding a redfish he wrestled out of the mangroves. After bouncing around to several other spots, we wrapped up the morning with some shark fishing. Mason is posing below with a with a little Lemon Shark. 15 minutes later we hooked another monster shark that almost pulled all the line off the rod before pulling the hook! Sharks always cap off fun family fishing charters!

But in the middle of all the laughing, jabbering about random stuff, we all fabricated a new fishing term I’m gonna start using – The Fam Slam! – We all know an Inshore Slam is a sea trout, redfish and snook. A Grand Slam consists of the aforementioned fish, and includes the Tarpon. Well, one person is supposed to catch em all to be official. But fishing with Dan and his family on a fishing charter is sure to not only be fun, and catch some fish, but it will always be a one of a kind good time.

So behold the Bates Family! Official Winners of the Inaugural Fam Slam! A term we will certainly be using on a regular basis with other folks on a family fishing charter in the future!
