Families love Fishing Charters

Families love Naples fishing charters. It is a great way to get the kids, parents, grand parents. or any combination of ’em, out in the beautiful Southwest Florida mangrove lined backcountry waters. A fishing charter is also a fun way to learn how to fish, and a great way to catch fresh fish for lunch or dinner at many of our local restaurants.

Check out the Peters family in the pics below. The family picture was taken on our recent trip. The first fish picture is from several years ago when they booked a family fishing charter, and mom caught a tarpon. Fast forward to the past couple of weeks, and here were are again, this time with the oldest daughter and her first tarpon and a nice redfish. Not show, were the load of fresh snapper they took down to a local restaurant for lunch! I love watching these kiddos grow up every year. I also look forward to the banter we all have, that just gets more colorful and fun with each fishing trip.

As we transition into September, and the daylight hours get shorter, and maybe, the temperatures start to cool back down, the fishing can be spectacular, as the fish are generally done with their spawning activities, and start to just eat, bulk up, and get ready for winter in a few months.

The snook fishing can be solid, and as a bonus, we get a couple of the rare months that snook are in season. Snook might be the best tasting fish in the ocean, and one of the only fish this captain will occasionally eat. To keep a snook, it must be 28-33 inches long, and that is a large fish with 2 big filets, so one of those, will more than feed a family, or your group. Sometimes catching a big snook takes a family effort. Sometimes, grandpa even needs to jump in! Check out these two big snook caught on one family trip.

Redfish are also very active. Fall is when they begin to really gather up and school, as the inshore fish that are almost too big to keep, gather up and begin to joining the spawning sized monsters that lurk offshore. It’s not unusual to find schools of the big fish around the passes and just offshore, that are usually too big to keep (over 27 inches long.) These bruisers, however, will test any tackle you hook ’em on, and they can be as big as any fish on the trophy list. Sometimes, with the kids back in school, the family fishing charter takes to form of just mom and dad. Check out the nice redfish and snook when Amy booked an afternoon trip last week!

Families love fishing charters, whether it is a chance to get in the outdoors, catch fish for dinner, or spend time together in the boat, laughing, telling stories, and sight seeing. Give me a call, or a text and find out how we can get your family out on the water. I love to talk about fishing, and have endless stories, so don’t be shy!

Tight Lines Everyone!
